Fishermen At NeIligudda Tank Tree Planting Programme

Bidadi is located on Mysore highway , and is around 40 KMH. This comes under Ramnagaram Taluk, Bangalore Rural Dist. There is a huge perennial tank [Nelligudda Tank] covering around 500 HA. 30 Families from 10 villages around the tank area are fishing which is the main source of income. They are investing and maintaining the tank. 25 SHGs have been formed, out of which 17 are women's groups. 12 groups are good and has regular savings. They have opened saving accounts in the Banks. They are also lending loan to the members. There is good scope for micro finance mostly related to off farm activity Initially they managed book of accounts on their own. Of late books were issued to the groups which was supported from Dharmapuri Project. They need outside exposure. 

100 low cost houses were constructed with the support of ROTARY club of Bangalore Cantonment for the poor families. They are also supporting 2 take care centre and midday meal programme.
